Where does science meet yoga?
“Science cannot solve the ultimate mystery of nature. And that is because, in the last analysis, we ourselves are a part of the mystery that we are trying to solve”

Teaching adaptive yoga and meditation to patients in the geriatric department of a local hospital.
My mission
Teaching yoga classes is a profoundly enriching experience, allowing me to touch the lives of various individuals with unique physical and emotional challenges. In these classes, I primarily focused on providing private and small group vinyasa sessions to beginners who are dealing with injuries in their shoulders, hips, back, shoulders, ankles and neck. This presents a challenge as I need to adapt and modify poses to suit each student's needs. The process of finding various options for each pose is not only challenging but also deeply rewarding. It requires me to be flexible in my teaching approach and tailor each sequence to cater to the specific requirements of my students.
One of the valuable lessons I learned during my teaching experience is the importance of being responsive to my students' immediate needs. There were times when I had to deviate from my initial plan of teaching a vinyasa class and instead offered a restorative class. Adapting to the student's requirements in the moment is a crucial aspect of providing a positive and beneficial experience. I felt confident in my ability to pivot and provided a class that was slower-paced and grounding, leaving the students satisfied and grateful for the tailored guidance.
In some instances, I encountered students facing numerous physical and emotional challenges. To address their needs, I offered a yoga nidra class after explaining the nature of this practice. The feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive, with the students expressing a sense of consciousness and calm rarely experienced. This demonstrated the transformative power of yoga, not only in the physical realm but also in creating emotional and mental balance.
The demographic I serve consists of busy workers who often feel overwhelmed by their hectic lifestyles. With this in mind, I aim to establish a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere in each class. The goal is to provide a holistic experience that left them feeling balanced physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. It is gratifying to witness the positive impact of yoga on their lives, as they could find moments of serenity amidst their daily chaos.
Additionally, I extend my teaching to include adaptive yoga sessions for elderly patients at the hospital. These sessions are tailored to patients who are limited in their mobility, some of whom are confined to chairs or beds. The joy they derive from moving their bodies, even in a limited capacity, is heartwarming. For those who initially hesitate to participate, I offer meditation sessions to meet their unique needs. The transformation in their demeanor, from tears and desperation to smiles by the end of the meditation, reinforced the healing potential of yoga and meditation in various settings.
Teaching yoga in the palliative care and oncology department is a deeply moving experience. One patient in the oncology department mentioned that she incorporated the yoga techniques and visualizations I taught her into her daily routine, as advised by her psychiatrist and physiotherapist. Knowing that these practices provided solace and comfort during such challenging times was a testament to the therapeutic benefits of yoga.
On a personal level, my engagement with yoga and its teachings is about a profound transformation in my life. The practice of self-compassion has enabled me to evolve physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. I am continually evolving and striving to become a better version of myself, driven by the desire to share the incredible benefits of yoga with others.
As an extension of my passion, I have taken the initiative to launch a YouTube channel and create this website to make yoga and meditation accessible to the busy individuals of this fast-paced world. My goal is to bring the gift of yoga to those who seek balance and well-being in their busy lives. This journey is a testament to my commitment to spreading the positive impact of yoga and meditation far and wide, helping others find peace and tranquility amidst the chaos of modern life.
